Vaillant (2002), in reviewing the Harvard 50-year longitudinal study, concluded that generativity is the best predictor for successful aging for men and women. It is a key motivator in life for men. Recent research completed by Perel and Peled, 2008, as published by the Violence against Women Journal, identified that the generativity was a powerful tool that increased insight and motivation for change with men who were abusive partners.
