Intersection of family law and family and domestic violence

In November 2011, the Commonwealth Parliament passed a reform Bill that amended a number of key sections of the Australian Family Law Act 1975 (Cth). In 2007, a new federal government commissioned a number of key studies to examine the impacts of these changes. This Thematic Review examines key themes of these reports and provides snapshots of the new ‘evidence base’ pertaining to family law system practice where there is family violence.

Domestic violence and natural disasters

This Thematic Review, written by Clearinghouse Information Officer, Megan Sety, provides a brief overview of the historic and emerging international research to explore the increase of domestic violence during and after natural disasters. It previews the topics to be presented March 9 in Melbourne at Identifying the Hidden Disaster: The First Australian Conference on Natural Disasters and Family Violence

Registration for the conference is still open. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
